OpenVSP Workshop

Upskill yourself by learning an open-source software

About the software

OpenVSP, a.k.a. Open Vehicle Sketch Pad is a parametric aircraft geometry tool. It allows the user to create a 3D digital model of an aerial vehicle by defining its geometrical parameters. This software was initially developed by J. R. Gloudemans and others for NASA in the early 1990’s. It was released as an open-source software by NASA from 2012 onwards.

It is an aerospace-oriented CAD model creation tool, suitable for communicating your idea or concept, and it takes much less time to learn as compared to numerous CAD software packages.

Objective

To provide an overview and hands-on experience of the software to create 3D digital models of Airships

Intended Audience

Anyone who is interested to learn how to quickly make 3-D CAD models of airships (No pre-requisites)

Benefits

Participants will learn how to quickly create CAD model of airships

The model can be used for estimation of drag characteristics, aerodynamic analysis and structural design

Certificate of participation will be given to all participants who complete the workshop
